There’s a culture of toxic positivity on the internet.
“Wtf are you talking about bro social media is full of assholes and trolls".
True. But that’s only one half of the social media-toxicity coin. The other half comes in the form of getting EXTREME positive feedback for each tiny spurt of progress despite not really accomplishing anything at all.
When you post a screenshot on X of your first e-com order that came from someone other than your mom or your first $27.92 affiliate commission you’re going to get more likes than on anything you’ve ever posted before¹.
You won’t believe how many notifications you get. And as a rule all the comments WILL be positive.
“Fuck yeah king let’s goooooooooooo”
“SICK! Youre really getting after it bro”
“Damn @NPC2069 is out there doing the thing. You love to see it.”
Social media Small Accomplishments Matter culture holds you back
It’s cool and semi-harmless if you just started.
But if you’ve been doing this for a while you need to set your expectations higher and you need to do it fast.
