Google’s new Reviews Update (rolled out from April 12th-25th) is causing max pain in the SEO world.
Fortunately most of my followers bucked the trend and actually saw gains or broke even.
If you’re one of them then congrats.
Since you read this Substack you shouldn’t be surprised that Google is tightening the screws.
They know they have a serious problem with low-quality content ranking. They’re trying to get the garbage out of the SERPs as fast as possible (hence the algorithm updates every 2-3 months, with an update every single month for the past 3).
Most other people in the “SEO community” aren’t quite so smart. Their main goal is to skate by and do the bare minimum, pretending that algorithm updates aren’t even a thing.
But Google has been rolling out reviews updates on a regular basis for a while now. Why is this one causing so much turmoil?
