Let the Success of Others Fuel You
How to do it
When you’re in the struggle stage you sometimes look at people who have succeeded in the thing you’re trying to do and it PISSES YOU OFF.
You look up a picture of their face and you can’t believe that this regular-ass -looking dude managed to build something successful while you’re still struggling to get your business off the ground.
This has a way of initially lowering your self-esteem.
You think: “If this average dude could do it then why can’t I?”
This is when you seriously contemplate throwing in the towel. You have the overwhelming desire to bury your dreams back down where they came from, into the deepest hole in your consciousness, somewhere where they will never again see the light of day and humiliate you and make you feel small ever again.
You mope around for a bit. You watch every show that exists on Netflix. You generally act like a depressed little crybaby for an extended period of time.
Then another thought strikes you: “If this regular-ass-looking dude can succeed then SO CAN I.”
You decide that you’re going to use your indignation as fuel.
The initial reaction of feeling like a loser is still present (you are, technically speaking, still a loser), but the way you frame it your mind is different.
Instead of using your failure as an excuse to mope around like a little bitch, you use it to light a fire under your ass.
All of a sudden your anger and despair and righteous fury at being slighted by the world becomes your biggest gift.
Determined to succeed like never before, you toss aside all self-doubt and work harder than ever.
You want to stop feeling like a loser more than anything in the world. You want to prove to yourself that you’re better than those random people on the “about us” pages on the websites of successful businesses. And you will NOT stop until you make it happen.
Then one day you look up from the fog of fury and despair and realize that you did it.
When you see a successful person you don’t get angry or insecure. You feel like you’re looking in the mirror because you’re one of them.
You realize that winners aren’t some special species of elite superhumans, but just regular people who made it happen.
Just like you.
THE END.
