Go to any airport in the world and take a look at the people waiting at the gates.
I guarantee with absolute certainty that there will be anywhere between 0-3 (with zero being the most common number) of people reading books, surrounded by an uncountable horde of mouthbreathers watching brainrot on their phones (often without headphones).
The masses hate reading and they especially hate writing.
They always have and always will.
Throughout history, MAYBE 1% of people were truly literate. All the books from before, say, the late 1800s-ish were written by and for the top 1% of society, because no one else was even capable of reading them.
Mass illiteracy
Pop history teaches us that mass illiteracy was some kind of conspiracy used by the upper classes to keep the peasants in their place. But the reality is that most people never wanted to read to begin with.
