Creating mass quantities of informational articles used to be a cornerstone SEO strategy.

If you did it right, you could drive massive amounts of traffic to your site with little effort.

That traffic well is now drying up.

AI overviews are eating a large percentage of the clicks that that used to go to these articles.

Simply put: the juice isn’t worth the squeeze anymore.

Are informational articles completely worthless?

No.

You should obviously go for it if you find an easy keyword.

Ranking #1 will always bring in SOME traffic.

And, most importantly, ranking highly for a query gives that page authority, so the internal links to your money pages will be more valuable.

But the effort you put into this type of content should be minimal.

Where top of funnel content thrives

But that’s absurd.

The marketing funnel is based on a human behavior and psychology. It didn’t just POOF vanish into thin air because LLMs were invented.
