It’s clearly time for another linkbuilding post.
I had thought that it was common sense that you should make your backlink profile seem natural, but after several recent audits it’s apparent that many people can’t help themselves.
So I’m going to break it down for you Barney-style.
For the sake of this article, I’m going to assume that you aren’t doing anything completely insane. I can’t help you if you’re so dumb that you’re buying thousands of links from Indians on Fiverr or spamming comment sections in news articles.
If you’re doing something that retarded then you need to completely reevaluate your goals in life because there’s no way that you’re ever going to rank a website.
Signs of an unnatural link profile
With that (hopefully obvious) caveat out of the way, here are some of the things you might be doing that make your linkbuilding look unnatural:
Excessive keyword-match anchor text
Too many links going to one post in a topical cluster
Gaining links too fast
Links from obvious link farms
