Tetra here. Today we have another guest post from the Jungle’s own relocation and second citizenship expert BowTiedGlobe. He was kind enough to write up a guide on the best locations to live in as an online business owner. I learned a lot from this guide and I’m sure I’ll be using it in the near future.
Any reason Singapore isn’t included on the list? From what I understand, their dividends tax is zero, the country is extremely stable, and they’re one of the biggest flight hubs in Asia.
Cons would be that it’s boring and authoritarian...
It certainly is a good option. I chose Thailand for the region mostly because it is way easier to live there permanently when compared to Singapore (the investor visas in Singapore require north of 1.8 million dollars). I should def have mentioned it in the alternatives list for Southeast Asia, tho.
Seems like outside of PR, moving to a low tax state like FL or TX is just about as good as going international for most US citizens (tax wise). Is that correct?
I'd say both are a good move, but going abroad can still be a bit better because of FEIE, specially if it is to a country that won't tax your wages or self-employment income like the UAE
There is also the fact you will likely be working your way towards a 2nd citizenship, which eventually could allow you to renounce.
